| 内容記述 | This paper examines the use of “The Little House on the Prairie,” which is a television series adapted from one of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s children’s novels, as a pedagogical tool to enhance English language learning and cross-cultural communication among Japanese learners of English. With its accessible language, rich moral themes, and portrayal of 19th-century American life, the series provides opportunities for developing linguistic skills and cultural awareness. Furthermore, the existence of a global fan community of the series presents authentic contexts for students to engage in English-based interaction. The paper outlines a thematic unit integrating the series and novels, grounded in relevant educational theories, and proposes classroom activities that promote both language acquisition and intercultural competence. |
