A preliminary survey assessed  the criterion-related validity of 44 items on the assertion scale, demonstrating low to moderate positive  correlations. The main survey involved 535 university students from Japan and South Korea, using the  same 44-item scale. Factor analysis identified 26 items, categorized into four factors: \"Expression of Negative Emotions,\" \"Interpersonal Proactivity,\" \"Expression of Positive Emotions,\" and \"Independence.\" This new scale was named the Japan-Korea Assertion Scale（JKAS）. The analysis of cultural  differences revealed that Korean adolescents scored significantly higher than Japanese adolescents across all subscales.
