In all, 241 university students and graduate students completed questionnaires on Google Forms and paper. The questionnaires assessed their awareness about LINE, a popular communication app, including anxiety and attachment in interactions, ease of use, and sense of connection ; their capacity to be alone; and their interpersonal relationships. The results from structural equation modeling showed that their awareness about LINE affected their interpersonal relationships, which in turn affected their capacity to be alone. I assume this occurs because their interaction with friends on SNS and friends in real life greatly overlap. Though meeting people face to face was extremely limited during COVID, it has become increasingly common now to meet friends face to face and communicate with the same friends online. Regarding the factors that influence the capacity to be alone, the study found that the more people are anxious about and dependent on their interactions on LINE, the more they avoid being hurt, which in turn lowers their tolerance for loneliness. This study revealed that the individual’s attitude of using SNS influences the individual’s the capacity to be alone, which is a characteristic of that individual.}, pages = {19--28}, title = {SNSの中で成長してきた青年たちの 「一人でいられる能力」}, volume = {24}, year = {2024} }
