| 内容記述 | Organizations of different natures are important social entities supportive to the development of a society and in nation building. They play crucial roles in the areas of education, health and hygiene, economic patterns, developing leaders, bargaining policies, and building awareness on current issues. Despite of their significant role in nation building, their sustainability is threatened due to the dwindling overseas financial support which is mostly coming from Official Development Assistance (ODA), World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and International Private Organizations (IPOs) like the Rotary Club International. Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) are most disadvantaged since they rely their finances to the aforementioned sources in implementing programs and projects at the grassroots level. Organizational dissolution is a serious threat that would certainly cease development endeavors to improve the lives of the marginalized communities especially in the slum areas and remote communities. An NGO in Mindanao, the Institute of Primary Health Care-Davao Medical School Foundation (IPHC-DMSF) in the Philippines is not exempt to this dilemma. Thus, it immediately conducts a series of rigid organizational assessment workshops using the STEP Model Approach in order to ascertain its sustainability amidst diminishing financial assistance from ODAs. The result leads the institute to revisit its program portfolio and points to the potent role of government organizations (GOs) as financiers of NGO managed development projects. The peoples organizations, that IPHC-DMSF develops over time, are also recognized as partners in order to sustain the organization and the programs. IPHC-DMSF is reengineering its organization and streamlining key programs, capitalizing on their existing resources. It is a difficult challenge. | |||||
